Three Colon football players named All-State

Three members of Colon High School’s state-championship football team were named to the All-State squad for 8-man football.

The Associated Press named wide receiver Jonathan West and linebacker Brandon Crawford to its first team, and quarterback Philip Alva made honorable mention.

West caught 10 touchdowns and ran for seven more as a member of the state-champion Magi. On the other side of the ball, the Magi senior nabbed six interceptions.

Crawford, meanwhile, made 84 tackles, including 61 solo takedowns. Twenty-five of his tackles were for a loss and he caused six fumbles. As a running back, the junior racked up more than 1,300 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.

Alva, a senior, played a key role on offense as quarterback of the 13-and-0 squad.
