Local teacher is nominated for national award

Pathfinder Education Center special education teacher Tammy Childs has been nominated for the 2019-20 national LifeChanger of the Year award.

Childs was recognized as a LifeChanger in her community for supporting and advocating for her students. She works daily with students who have unique challenges, such as limited speech or mobility, serious illnesses and seizures. Her students are loved for their differences, celebrated for their uniqueness, and provided the best possible care and support from Childs and a dedicated team, according to her nomination form.

Childs goes above and beyond, including visiting her students when they are visits them in the hospital or at home when they are too sick to be at school, and she often provides respite for tired parents who need a few minutes away from a bedside, wrote Childs’ nominator, who would like to remain anonymous.
