Statement released following death of woman and daughter

Following the death of a woman and her 16-year-old daughter last week in a fire in Fabius Township, the family has released a statement.

Michelle and Cheyenne Bixler died in the blaze at their home on Harder Road. Three other children in the home were able to escape safely and were taken to Three Rivers Health.

“The Bixler family has experienced an unfathomable tragedy with the loss of Cheyenne and Michelle Bixler in a disastrous house fire,” said a spokesperson for the family.

According to the family, daughter Cheyenne was greatly involved in many sports throughout her life, participating in cross country, tae kwon do and soccer. She was an honor-roll student at Three Rivers High School and had aspirations to join the FBI, the statement said.

Michelle, her 38-year-old mother, is remembered as an outstanding family-woman, a renowned member of the community, nobly taking part in many activities. According to the family, she was deeply involved in Howardsville Church, often working in the nursery, and previously worked in the Bible Study nursery at Three Rivers Bible Church.

A Go Fund Me account for the family has been established.  Here’s the link:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/michelle-and-cheyanne-bixler-memorial-fund?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1
