Sturgis names new Middle School principal

Sturgis school officials voted unanimously Monday to select James Lamb as the next principal at the Middle School.

Lamb currently serves as assistant principal at the high school.

He will succeed Chris Gerbers, who recently accepted an administrative position in Indiana, closer to his home. Lamb officially starts Aug. 1.

Lamb has been employed at Sturgis Public Schools the past 17 years as a teacher, social studies department chairman, professional learning community team member, interest- based bargaining team member, varsity football coach and, most recently, assistant principal at the high school.

Lamb on Tuesday resigned as varsity football coach.

He was among three candidates interviewed through the process, which was through an internal posting, according to superintendent Art Ebert.
