Two injured in motorcycle crash

A Constantine man and Sturgis woman were injured after being thrown from the motorcycle on which they were riding over the weekend in Cass County’s Mason Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday to an area on Mason Road, just east of Calvin Center.

Authorities said a motorcycle driven by 27-year-old Adrain Black of Constantine was heading west on Mason Street. Meanwhile, Stephanie Wolkins, 30, of Cassopolis, was also traveling westbound and attempted to make a left-hand turn into her driveway. Investigators said as Wolkins was turning, Black tried to pass on the left.

His motorcycle struck Wolkins’ vehicle, throwing Black and 47-year-old passenger Sabrina Porter, of Sturgis, from the motorcycle.

They were transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital; Wolkins was not injured.

Neither Black nor Porter was wearing a helmet, according to deputies.
