Centreville gift card program sells out

Saturday’s Centreville Downtown Development Authority stimulus gift certificate program was declared a success, as all of the gift certificates sold out in 35 minutes.

DDA program manager Pattie Bender said 280 $25 gift certificates were purchased and matched by an additional $25 thanks to financial support from the Centreville DDA, Covered Bridge Days Committee and St. Joseph County United Way.

The gift cards of $50 in value were sold for $25 a piece starting at 10 a.m. in Centreville High School’s parking lot.

In all, six Centreville businesses took part: Lil’ Louie’s, The Local, Royal Café, Yoder’s Country Market, Hair Depot and X-treme Hair Lengths.

The program was funded by a $3,000 grant from the village’s DDA, $3,000 from the Covered Bridge Days committee and $1,000 from St. Joseph County United Way.

The program has the potential to infuse $14,000 into the local restaurants and salons, DDA officials said.
