Auto theft ring – 3 SJC residents arrested

An auto-theft ring originating in LaGrange County was broken up by authorities and three St. Joseph County residents have been arrested.

An investigation by LaGrange County, Shipshewana Police Department and Michigan State Police led to the arrest of Kyle Miller, 33, of White Pigeon; Joshua Webb, 31, of Constantine and 26-year-old Katie Ann Shephard of Three Rivers.

They were arrested Wednesday after being involved in a high-speed pursuit in LaGrange County. The suspect vehicle, which topped speeds of 100 miles per hour, eventually left the roadway, struck two horses and a fence. One of the horses died as a result.

The suspects were charged with attempted murder and a lengthy list of other offenses, authorities said, adding the auto-theft ring had been active for several months.
