High speed chase ends in crash and arrest

A Constantine man was arrested after leading authorities on a high-speed chase last week in Florence Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies attempted to pull over a motorist for speeding around 12:30 a.m. Thursday on Mintdale Road, near the intersection of Lutz Road.

The driver refused to stop and sped away from pursuing deputies, Lillywhite said, adding that speeds reached in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Lillywhite said the situation concluded on Mintdale Road, near Engle Road, after the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle he was driving into a ditch.

The 27-year-old driver was charged with fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of meth, possession of burglary tools, possession of a police scanner while committing a felony and felon in possession of ammunition.

He was wanted on several outstanding warrants, authorities said.
