St. Joseph ISD names new board member

St. Joseph County Intermediate School District’s board of education has selected Patricia Keller to fill a vacant seat.

Keller, who has more than 30 years of experience in education, was one of two candidates for the appointed position. The interview and subsequent decision happened Monday. Keller was sworn in immediately after being appointed.

Keller lives in the Colon Community Schools district and, through June 30, will fill the seat vacated by Geoff Smith. The remaining four years of the seat will be determined at June’s ISD board election.

Keller spent the bulk of her professional career as a special-education teacher at Spring Lake Public Schools.

She was chosen over Cameron Bullock, chief financial officer at Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of St. Joseph County.
