Stark, who chose to not seek reelection for a third, two-year term a year ago, had represented the city’s Third District. 54 percent voted in Tuesday’s election

More than 23,000 St. Joseph County residents participated in this week’s general election. The figure means about 54 percent of the county’s registered voters participated in Tuesday’s vote. There will be two new faces on the Three Rivers City Commission later this month. District 3 candidate Diane Haley-Clay defeated incumbent Larry Matson in Tuesday’s general election. School districts that acted on Headlee-related proposals batted .500 in Tuesday’s election. All five proposed constitutional amendments were rejected by voters in Michigan, by wide margins.  They included Prop 2, which guaranteed collective bargaining rights and invalidated certain laws dealing with collective bargaining.
