School calendar approved at Centreville

Centreville Public Schools Board of Education has approved calendars for the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years. In each case, the district will begin the school year on Monday prior to Labor Day. Glen Oaks sees increase in enrollment

Glen Oaks Community College had a 7.3 percent increase in student headcount and a 10.1 percent increase in credit hours as enrollment numbers are finalized for the winter 2018 semester compared to a year ago. Substitute teacher accused of choking 8th grader in Kalamazoo

A woman says her 13-year-old son had red marks and bruises on his neck after being choked by a substitute teacher at a Kalamazoo school. Classes were canceled today at Three Rivers Community Schools following a threat. Record number of tips on school threats received in Michigan

Attorney General Bill Schuette says tips about safety threats in Michigan schools set a record in February with 670 reports. Schuette says there were 119 tips about planned school attacks last month, compared to 146 in all of 2017. Suicide threats were the most-reported tip at 127.
