Community Foundation announces new scholarship

The Three Rivers Area Community Foundation has announced the creation of the Ralph and Phyllis Bence Scholarship Fund. The fund will award a scholarship of $1,000 annually, to be used by the recipient to fund higher education based on academic merit. Special education reserves to be split among schools

St. Joseph County’s nine public school districts will share a rebate in excess of $230,000 of 2014-15 unspent special-education reserves. With Waneta Truckey stepping in as board president after Mike Bosma last month gave up the post but remains on the board, Pete Bennett was named vice president, Carl Barth treasurer and Erin Nowak secretary.
