Two Mendon players named to All State Football team

Mendon’s Logan Slaughter and Elijah Klepper were named to the Associated Press’ Division 7-8 All-State Football Team. For Slaughter it was his third appearance on the prestigious team. Mendon Downs Colon, 49-8, in 1st Round of Gridiron Playoffs

  Colon was no match for Mendon’s powerful offense and stingy defense at Saturday’s opening round of the state playoffs. The Hornets dominated the Magi, 49-8, from start to finish. Mendon,9-1, now will host Climax-Scotts, also 9-1, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.  8, at John Schwartz Field in Mendon.

The Western Michigan Broncos improved their record to 2-1 on the season with a 45-14 victory over visiting Murray State on Saturday. WMU amassed 607 yards of offense and held the races to just 305. The Broncos rushed for 379 yards. Michigan residents are tipping their hats to Kalamazoo native Derek Jeter in a tribute video to the retiring New York Yankees captain.  The video has been in production since July and is inspired by Nike’s tribute commercial.
