Sturgis farmer reappointed to represent cattle breeders

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has reappointed Sturgis rancher Monte Bordner to the Michigan Beef Industry Commission. Bordner is reappointed to represent cattle breeders for a term expiring in May 2026. Suspect flees vehicle following chase

Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a pursuit last weekend that originated in Centreville. A pit bull owned by a Constantine resident will be euthanized after it bit a woman in the face earlier this year. The matter was handled Wednesday by St. Joseph County District Court Judge Jeff Middleton. Vehicle stolen in Branch County

Michigan State Police troopers are investigating the larceny of a motor vehicle from a location in Branch County’s Algansee Township. Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a larceny incident that took place earlier this week in Park Township. Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said the incident occurred Tuesday night in the area of Heimbach Road and U.S. 131. Lowry and Mims Jr win spots on November ballot

Tom Lowry survived a primary election challenge Tuesday and will face-off against challenger Vernis Mims Jr. in November’s general election. Unofficial results through the St. Joseph County Clerk’s office show Lowry claimed 342 votes, about 53 percent of the votes cast in the election.
